“Must, bid the Morn awake!

Sad Winter now declines,

Each bird doth choose a mate;

This day's Saint Valentine's.

For that good bishop's sake

Get up and let us see

What beauty it shall be

That Fortune us assigns”

Valentine’s Day is an international festival that celebrates the feeling of love. Saint Valentine’s Day is celebrated each year on the 14th February and marks the death anniversary of one of the Christian legends, Saint Valentine. In most of the first world countries, February 14 is considered as a national holiday. Valentine’s Day has especially come to become a day made for lovers. Even in the media, Valentine’s Day is portrayed as a day meant for lovers. However, Valentine’s Day has a much larger appeal. It is a day to express love and that love can be for anyone and not specially a lover.

The festival, which celebrated the coming of spring, included fertility rites and the pairing off of women with men by lottery. At the end of the 5th century, Pope Gelasius I replaced Lupercalia with St. Valentine’s Day. It came to be celebrated as a day of romance from about the 14th century. Valentine's Day is celebrated on Sunday, February 14, 2021. Saint Valentine was a total of 14 saints who laid out their life for Ancient Rome. However, some people believe that the Valentine’s Day is a tribute to only one of these fourteen saints.

In Christian culture, a big feast is organized on Valentine’s Day to commemorate the day of burial of Saint Valentine and to celebrate their love for their land and their martyrdom. Thus, the very reason why Valentine’s Day is celebrated has nothing to do with the love between two lovers. However, owing to popular culture, Valentine’s Day has come to become a day when a man is supposed to express his feelings for a woman and a woman is supposed to do the same

My “Valentine”

MY “VALENTINE” I prepared a white card,

in the heart there is a reddish heart;

it is as white as my vow,

it is as sweet as my passion.

THERE is more green poison attached to it,

color of hope and my faith;

the flesh of the spirit and the chest are also printed gold letters.

I wrote your name smile and sweetness of your beauty;

I also signed my nickname which is in your pronunciation if it makes sense.

LIKE my heart too - do not be surprised - it is not a joke, it is not a deception;

what I hope for is also a silk heart, in the hope that your heart is great.

On the day of the heart - on the calendar -

heart red silk is for you;

which is heaven when it rains with your pink lips and chest fragrant.

In happy days and pleasant winds,

the messenger's heart is with you;

it will say of joy and sorrow,

My "Valentine" is you - no one else! Filipino,

16. poem about Valentine's Day.

Answer:

If you were my rose, then I'd be your sun,

painting you rainbows when the rains come.

I'd change my orbit to banish the night,

as to keep you in my nurturing light.

If you were my world, then I'd be your moon,

your silent protector, a night-light in the gloom.

Our fates intertwined, two bodies in motion

through time and space, our dance of devotion.

If you were my island, then I'd be your sea,

caressing your shores, soft and gentle I'd be.

My tidal embrace would leave gifts on your sands,

but by current and storm, I'd ward your gentle lands.

If you were love's promise, then I would be time,

your constant companion till stars align.

And though we are mere mortals, true love is divine,

and my devotion eternal, to my one valentine.

Answer:

Valentine’s Day, also called St. Valentine’s Day, holiday (February 14) when lovers express their affection with greetings and gifts. Given their similarities, it has been suggested that the holiday has origins in the Roman festival of Lupercalia, held in mid-February. The festival, which celebrated the coming of spring, included fertility rites and the pairing off of women with men by lottery. At the end of the 5th century, Pope Gelasius I forbid the celebration of Lupercalia and is sometimes attributed with replacing it with St. Valentine’s Day, but the true origin of the holiday is vague at best. Valentine’s Day did not come to be celebrated as a day of romance until about the 14th century. Valentine's Day is celebrated on Sunday, February 14, 2021.

Valentine

Although there were several Christian martyrs named Valentine, the day may have taken its name from a priest who was martyred about 270 CE by the emperor Claudius II Gothicus. According to legend, the priest signed a letter “from your Valentine” to his jailer’s daughter, whom he had befriended and, by some accounts, healed from blindness. Other accounts hold that it was St. Valentine of Terni, a bishop, for whom the holiday was named, though it is possible the two saints were actually one person. Another common legend states that St. Valentine defied the emperor’s orders and secretly married couples to spare the husbands from war. It is for this reason that his feast day is associated with love.

Formal messages, or valentines, appeared in the 1500s, and by the late 1700s commercially printed cards were being used. The first commercial valentines in the United States were printed in the mid-1800s. Valentines commonly depict Cupid, the Roman god of love, along with hearts, traditionally the seat of emotion. Because it was thought that the avian mating season begins in mid-February, birds also became a symbol of the day. Traditional gifts include candy and flowers, particularly red roses, a symbol of beauty and love.
